Jose A Pando, MD

Rheumatologist

Jose A. Pando, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist at Delaware Arthritis. With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Pando has developed a reputation as a warm and compassionate physician. He takes a holistic approach to care, taking into consideration his patient’s overall health, not just their symptoms or disease.

After earning his medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, Dr. Pando relocated to the United States to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Yale New Haven Primary Care Program in New Haven, Connecticut. He then went on to complete his fellowship training in rheumatology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Pando also completed a fellowship in integrative medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Currently Dr. Pando is a mentor of New Fellows for the integrative medicine program.

Dedicated to his profession, Dr. Pando has published numerous research papers on various topics in his field of expertise, including research in rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, and others. Pando was recognized as a Top Doctor by Delaware Today for many years (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021).

Dr. Pando founded Delaware Arthritis and is the medical director of the Lewes Wellness Center in Lewes. He is married and is the proud father of 3 children.

Jennifer Rahn, P.A.-C

Physician

Jennifer Rahn was born and raised in Arlington, VA. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Catawba College in 1998. Jennifer became interested in medicine while working as a senior lab technician in a Biomedical Engineering lab at Johns Hopkins University.

She completed her Master of Physician Assistant at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2004. Jennifer’s special interests include patient education and performing joint injections.

During her time off, she enjoys biking, hiking, cooking and going to the beach with her husband, Eric, and their two girls.

Anusha Vuppala, MD

Physician Assistant

Delaware Arthritis is excited to welcome Anusha Vuppala, MD, to the team. Dr. Vuppala is a Rheumatologist passionate about forging strong partnerships with the patients in her care and providing comprehensive treatment for autoimmune conditions. She practices from both the Lewes and the Millville location.

Originally from India, Dr. Vuppala completed her Internal Medicine – Pediatric Residency, followed by a Rheumatology Fellowship at LSU Shreveport. Her decision to move to Delaware was driven by the desire to be closer to family.

Rheumatology is Dr. Vuppala’s passion, and being a Rheumatologist has been an incredibly rewarding journey, primarily due to the profound physician-patient relationships unique to this specialty. Autoimmune conditions can be debilitating, significantly impacting the quality of life for patients. Witnessing the positive impact on their lives and working towards improving their well-being is truly gratifying.

Alongside the team at Delaware Arthritis, Dr. Vuppala specializes in treating a wide range of autoimmune conditions, such as lupus, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, and vasculitis, to name a few. The treatment options include a variety of immunosuppressive medications, IV therapies for autoimmune conditions, and diverse joint injections for osteoarthritis. Delaware Arthritis’s primary goal is to provide patients with the best care.

Outside of Dr. Vuppala’s professional life, she finds joy in spending time with her husband and child, going for long walks, and experimenting with cooking. Dr Vuppala states, “Staying in Lewes has been an absolute delight, and I am genuinely honored and privileged to be able to serve the wonderful community of Lewes.”
